| Jeff Amstutz | Jeff Amstutz has been teaching private trumpet/brass lessons for thirteen years and has been an Indiana certified license instrumental music teacher for the past twelve years. He is the Director of Instrumental Music, music dept. chairman and lead teacher for the cultural arts team at Lakeside M.S. Mr. Amstutz holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education K-12 with a major on Trumpet from Taylor University (main campus) Upland, IN. While in college, he won outstanding lead trumpet and solo awards at the Elmhurst College National Jazz Festival in Chicago and was lead trumpet in the CIDA National All-Star Collegiate Jazz Band held in Nashville, TN. Mr. Amstutz was the featured soloist with the Taylor University’s Symphonic Band National Tour and was selected as one of the top three trumpet players in the past 25 years, to come out of Taylor. Since graduating from college, Mr. Amstutz has taught H.S. and M.S. band for 12 years and has played in many local bands and music groups including, “Clubber Lang” (The Freak Brothers), “Nostalgia”, Summit Brass Quartet, IPFW Jazz Ensemble and the Civic Theater orchestra. Currently he plays the 2nd book and some lead for the New Millennium Jazz Orchestra (North East Indiana’s premier Jazz Ensemble). Mr. Amstutz has performed with many professional recording jazz artists including: Maynard Ferguson, Roger Ingram, Bobby Shew, Craig Johnson, Jamie Aebersold, Herb Bruce, Butch Miles, Dennis Diblasio, Frank Mantooth, and Bill Watrous. Mr. Amstutz’s students participate in many different contest and competitions throughout the state and have won many awards and scholarships. Many of his students have been selected to play in many honor bands throughout the state including Youth Symphony, All State Concert Band and All State Jazz Band. Four of the past five lead trumpet players for the All State Jazz Band were trumpet students of Mr. Amstutz. |
